Aviva says lowest car Insurance quote available is €280.

The most recent renewal we go is increased over last year.
Like others doing it online with the same insurer got a much cheaper quote.

Though it might be the extras. Have to check that. I suspect it might be cheaper online with better extras. Also online doesn't include the discounts for multiple policies or train ticket holder, but that made negligible difference tbh and the online new customer gives you a similar discount. So the difference is moot. Its just cheaper online.

I tried to find the free travel insurance there a couple of weeks ago on the Laya website but couldn't. I wonder have they done away with it..

So it's that time of the year again and my renewal quote this went from €310 to €406.23 for the coming year
Went online as a new customer and renewed for €336.65 with €125 excess, Stepback and Protected NCD and Journey wise
So I was able to reduce my original quote by 18.73% by renewing online but overall my premium went up by 8.24%
Hopefully next year I'll get back to the minimum again, he says wishfully :)

Same for me. My renewal quote went from about 310 to 535. Haven't check on the web yet but I am pretty sure I will get a lower offer as every year.
As a new customer I can renew for 458. I have a newer car than last year. Still a difference if €80.

Breakdown insurance?

JourneyWise Accident Cover

Bad things happen sometimes but you can protect yourself and those you care about in case of accidental bodily injury. For any person named on your policy and who you have chosen to cover for this benefit we will pay;
  • €26,000 in the event of death, loss of sight or loss of one or more limbs.
  • Up to €130 for each complete day spent as an inpatient in hospital for up to 20 days.
JourneyWise also covers you while in, getting into or getting out of a private car or if you're a fare-paying passenger on a train, bus, taxi, aircraft, boat, ship or hovercraft.
I've been meaning to get cover for my hovercraft ever since I had that eel problem with it...

Insurance companies up to their old tricks again, as is the norm. With 123, my renewal this year was 512, up from 417 last year. I put the same details into their site and got a quote just under 430. Still an increase, despite insurance claims costs reported to be dropping.

It generally pays to shop around at renewal time and not just with your incumbent insurer as a renewing or a "new" customer.

Reportedly about 3 in 4 claimants still pursue the legal route rather than the Personal Injuries Board. No significant difference in the level of awards between the two but costs are 22 times higher for the legal route.
And motor repair costs are rising. I am only surmising but I suspect that an increase in EVs will add to this.

I have a case going through the Injuries Board at the moment. It is the most frustrating experience of my life, far worse than dealing with any utility company or even Ryanair. An absolute nightmare mess.
