Hello,
Perhaps someone in the know will be able to assist re:Avant credit card fraud transaction.
A friend phoned Avant week before last as an 'unknown' transaction turned up on her account. She was told that her card would be stopped and a new one issued...and that any fraudulent transaction would be reversed. All,well and good. She received her new card quite quickly after and registered it.She then got a call from Avant Fraud Dept who said they would try and find out how her card had been compromised. They reckon she must unknowlingly authorised a transaction. She said she didnt and checked her phone accordingly, where no messages on this showed up.The person dealing with her said they'd ring back in a few days but that she should report it to her local Garda station in the meantime and get a case number and forward it to Avant. She did this later that afternoon and emailed the credit card company. No call came back from Avant .
Fast forward to last Friday evening when she got home from work and opened her emails to find a mail from Avant telling her that they were now : 'not reversing the fraudulent transaction' !!!!! No phone call or anything...and more importantly no word on how and where her card was used.Surely this could not be right.( With it being Friday evening she could not get in contact with Avant...eventhough they state that they are available over the weekend on their monthly statement.
She told me that there was no way on earth that she was going to pay 'one fraudulent cent ' of the monies taken. Can anyone assist? I heard that Avant were absolutely terrible to deal with from a delaying and customer service point of view but will reserve judgement until my friend manages to talk to a human at Avant.
How has anyone else dealt with this? Thanks in advance for your advice,
