Automatic Copy from Hard Drive to Network

I'm wondering if it is possible to set up something on a PC which enables me to work on my local drive but which can then automatically synchronise this drive with a network drive when I am logged onto the network.

In what way exactly? Logged into the local PC, a workgroup, a domain etc.?

SyncToy mentioned above is great for doing synchronization or copying but I'm wondering about what you need in this context for triggering the synchronization?

But I think what you are looking for is something that does a backup once it detects a network. So once you hook your laptop to a network at home or work. Problem with that is how does it know its the right network?
