Anyone know if this is possible. The server in question is in a City Council?

If you're using Outlook in work you can set up a Rule to forward all messages (or only ones from a particular sender, or whatever criteria you specify) to another e-mail address. It's in the Tools menu.

I believe you have to set it up as a server side rule to get it to work if you're not at work but still want the e-mails to be forwarded, but unfortunately I can't verify that at the moment.

if you are using outlook add the email address you want to forward to into your contacts then go to tools> rules & alerts> new rule> start from a blank rule>check messages when they arrive>tick the box's where name is in the To & CC field> next>forward to people or distribution list> in the bottom pane click on people or distribution list> in the top right change Global address list to Contacts> select contact that you want the mail to forward to.

If you are in a ms exchange set up you can add your external email as a contact and you can then configure exchange to send all emails to your external or both external and work
