Hi guys,
not sure if this is the right place for this on the forum, if not appologies to the mods.
I signed a PWT contract in sept 07 having been successfully interviewed after 4 years on a pro rata contract. Its a 'permanent pensionable position' ive been told, but if anyone can clear up a few things for me it would be great. Its basically about the security of the position... ive a mortage now and a family starting soon. Does this kind of a contract secure me to this job untill im retirement age? say if a course im teaching on stops being carried by the college, or the department im in closes for whatever reason? is it the colleges responsibility to fill my contracted 18hrs teaching a week untill i retire or is it a case of theres no hours for me so im out the door? Im sorry if this seems strange to be asking but having been on a 'pro rata' contract with little security for so long i just want to clear this up.
Thanks in advance for any fortcoming response
