We fitted an ash stairs about 2 years ago. Beautiful wood. Stairs very well made. The wood has gone a bit darker in the two years but still has a loverl 'glow' while not looking 'piney'.
Cannot tell you the price as we got all ash second fix carpentry. The chippy did say the wood was as difficult to work with as any hardwood, blunting chisels etc... but made no difference to me. Glad I went with ash.
