Are CGT liable assets apart from shares covered by the four week rule?

Hi All,

I know that if you sell shares for a loss within four weeks of acquiring them then the loss cannot be offset against other gains, only against shares of the same class purchased within the same four week period.

I just want to check if this only applies to shares - for example, what about ETC's, CFD's or cryptocurrencies, does the four week rule apply to them as well?

Thanks

Wanted to piggyback here as I'm also wondering about this 4-week rule.

What exactly constitutes a "share of the same class"? If I purchase an ordinary share in Tesla and an ordinary share in Amazon I presume for tax purposes these are considered "shares of a different class" even though they are in fact ordinary shares; would anyone be able to confirm?

Thanks!

Correct, they are not the same.
