I'm looking for Life Insurance.

For the same amount insured and the same amount of years my quotes vary from 13 euro a month to 20 euro a month.

Are all policies the same ?

Is there any advantages going with the dearer ones or any disadvantages going with the cheaper ones ?

Some companies do offer additional benefits e.g. Aviva offer Best Doctors second medical opinion service. Such additional benefits have a value. You'd need to have these explained to you to decide whether or not you want them and are willing to pay the extra premium for them.

If all you want is a simple life insurance policy that will pay out an agreed sum in an agreed period of time with no other benefits and you're sure that the quotes you've received are comparing like with like, then go with the cheapest quote. All of the Irish life companies are required to maintain a minimum level of financial solvency in order to be able to meet claims, so the likelihood of one going bust and being unable to pay claims is small. And again if it's simply cover on death that you want, that's a fairly black and white definition of a claim. If you're dead, it's fairly easy to verify that you're dead. So as long as you are completely honest on the application about answering all the queries, there's no need to choose between companies based on differing definitions of what's covered.

Liam
