My son is interested in becoming an architect - He's going on 13, it's obviously still a long way down the road.
But could anyone recommend where I could find age-appropriate information/ museums/ buildings to visit etc.? I've taken him through the leaving cert art history books, churches etc., and he liked that (as much as he could with it being presented by a parent!).

A walk through and along the new docklands is very interesting.
Kids love the new bridge and the convention centre...it would be great if you could get inside it and go up a few floors and look out.

Just look at these things and ask him why he thinks they were built this way and not the same way as the old buildings.

The RIAI ran some tours of significant architecture last year, not sure if its planned again this year.

These tours can often be a bit dreary, with some aesthete crawling up his own wotsit....enough to put your young fella off...so choose carefully.

Give the architecture department in ucd a shout. You might get a tour of the place , meet some students and have a look at their work.

Any time I was over there it was open door into all the labs.
