Anyone had a car door where the latch broke?

Guys,
Anyone experience this? Driving along today, drivers door popped open. unable to close it now. The latch part on the drivers door will not click when it is rotated....any ideas of repair costs etc?
 
As a fleet manager I have to experiences with doors.

1) VW Passat where the door wouldn't close/lock due to a gammy lock! (God bless Duck tape)

2) a Renault Laugna where the door fell off - French engineering - say no more!
