Any Risk in Giving Your Bank Details to Receive Payment for Goods

Is there any risk in this, giving out your Name/Account Number/Sort code to a stranger in order to receive payment.

I'm thinking mainly of giving these details through a 'Private Message'



Paypal does the job 99% of the time but sometimes a buyer may not have this.

Every time you give someone a cheque this information is on it. If you can give it to make a payment then why not to receive one.
