I got a note from Laya to say that they now have a new "urgent care benefit". I had never heard of the providers before. Are there others out there? If you have the information and link, I will update the first post later.

Details on the Mymedical & Affidea clinics here:
https://www.layahealthcare.ie/quickcare/

The new QuickCare benefit covers consultation and treatment of a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries in approved centres including minor burns, sports injuries, fractures and sprains or possible breaks. Treatment will also be available for minor illnesses including fever, rashes and infections. Subject to their level of cover, members will be covered up to €375 per visit in direct settlement to cover an ‘urgent care’ consultation and related treatment in approved minor injury and illness centres.

Depending on your location you might be better off attending the public swiftcare clinic in Smithfield run by Mater as less chance of out of pocket expense.

I think with the private A&Es at eg Mater they can cover serious issues also, but you are in for high co-payment and opening hours are business hours.
