Folks, I just bought a beautiful solid ash bed for the guest bedroom. I have the option of purchasing the bed side lockers that go with it but am trying to thing is there any alternatives.
I will not need them for storage as it will be a guest room only. Is there any good alternatives for putting bed side lamps on and something that guests can have a place for a cup of tea/glass of water or whatever.
Thanks.

Floating shelves would look fabulous...either painted in same colour as wall or in ash finish similar to your bed.

I think a small table as a bedside locker looks lovely, but is usually impractical as it provides no storage. I have long coveted this (it also comes in white) or even this, but alas I don't have enough room and I also need more storage. So I have this which has tons of storage and is the best bedside locker I've ever had)

I agree, lovely idea. Check out the Lack wall shelves in the new Ikea catalogue to see how well these can look on a wall. Plus they wouldn't take up floor space.

Isn't it too high to be a proper bedside locker? I would be thinking of a bedside locker as being the height for reaching your arm out of bed and taking something off it.....

Actually it's the perfect height (a little above mattress height - aka I can see the alarm clock without lifting my head). Maybe it depends on the height of your bed ;) The drawers are also the perfect size for a box of tissues.

Oh perfect so, I'd say it was only the picture that threw me. I agree with needing space, although god knows my locker is only full of rubbish.

It's 69cm high, but it's narrow (only 28cm) so maybe it looks taller in the picture. And I'm not saying my locker is rubbish free, but you can hold a lot of phone and iPod rechargers, toiletries, magazines and books for reading in bed in those six drawers, and everything is easy to find. TBH, I'd never go back to a traditional locker.

+1 on all those recommending the office drawer set - got one in Lidl recently (reduced to €29) - has 5 drawers, loadsa space for junk! Also on wheels so easily moved for cleaning underneath! :D

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. I like the look of the glass lap top tables, will have a scoot around the shops over the next week to see if I see anything else. The floating shelves sound good too.
