Hello,
I would be so grateful if anyone can recommend a better and/or cheaper alternative to Irish Life Nurses and Teachers Choice 3. This year we were quoted €6516.60 and the policy has made some changes.
The policy currently covers my two parents, mam age 67 and dad 64, along with myself (female) age 34. All non- smokers.
With the current policy we had the option to add prsonalised packages-
Mam and Dad added you extra, sports extra and travel extra. They don’t really use any of these benefits.
I added - fertility extra, maternity extra and travel extra. As I am conscious of having good fertility and maternity cover and Irish Life told me there would be a two year wait if I wanted to use these benefits.
We have been with Irish Life and on this policy since 2020.
I would be hoping to find a similar plan for Mam and Dad. Dad has had a spinal decompression and ankle surgery in the past and has ongoing pain so a revision may be required in the future. Mam may also require a hip replacement in the future so good orthopaedic and specialist cover is a must. Access to scans as well as good cancer support would be preferable also. With regards to day to day - consultants, optical, dental and prescriptions are what they mainly currently claim as well as physio. For hospital stays a private room is preferable however, if it is very costly then obviously a semi private with a lower co-payment is fine access to all hospitals and solid coverage for is preferable.
For myself - I see a consultant monthly so good coverage for consultant fees is preferable. I have had two spinal surgeries and will probably be facing another in the future but hopefully not for a few years but I still want to maintain my current level of insurance and not have to face a waiting period. Good coverage for scans is necessary and for hospital stays while I would also prefer a private rooms if the per night or per claim charge or Co-payment is extortionate a semi-private is grand. I would also like to have good maternity and fertility coverage, again I don’t want to have to face a waiting period if I downgrade my cover. I do have a medical card so GP visits aren’t an issue but if I can claim optical, orthodontics, dental, prescriptions then that would be fantastic.
I hope I included everything required and also didn’t ramble too much. I have been checking the hia website however I’m up against the renewal deadline now and would really appreciate some help. Thank you
