Alternative Energy funds

Hi,

Does anyone know of any good Irish or International funds that invest in alternative energies ?

Thanks

one i know of anyway is available through Rabo....new energy fund (ML-Blackrock).

Just be aware that the Merrill Lynch New Energy Fund is not a green fund. It invests in potential new energy sources & processes regardless of their environmental qualities. This includes coal and (possibly) nuclear. Just in case that matters to you.

There are various ETF funds available to cover different perspectives - non carbon, renewable, low to zero emission etc. There are mutual funds like ML available too.
PowerShares WilderHill Clean Energy includes the experimental technology type firms investigating alternative energy sources.
Sustainability type funds such as EasyETF GS Ultra-Light Energy, DJ Euro STOXX Sustainability 40 and social\ethical funds may provide some coverage.

I just got something on a clean energy bond. I've sent you a Private Message.

It's single premium only though, may not be any use.

Oratone.

That bond is equally weighted between a Bio-Fuel Index and DJ EUStoxx 50 Index, as well as being a Deposit Based Tracker.

Perhaps there is an ETF available on the Bio-Fuel Index? It's a relatively new Index.

I did some research on the web and came across this Motley Fool article which has a pretty negative perspective on investment into biofuels:

Apart from that, I also found some more info on
WilderHill Clean Energy Index ETF

I'm interested in investing into the DJ EURO STOXX Sustainability 40, but the Wilder Hill Clean Energy ETF sounds interesting too. What is the cheapest way to invest into these from Ireland? I also have a choice between Irish, French or German brokers.

Regards,

Fanny
