Almera - dashboard lighting

Recently bought an 01 Almera h/b. The lighting on the dashboard does light up when the front lamps are turned on but the LED display with temp., time and mileage etc... does not. Impossible to see when it's night. I didn't think it was a fuse that was the problem as the rest of the lights are coming on and think that if a fuse had blown then all lighting on the dash would go?? Anyone have any comments / ideas on this? thanks.

I had this car and believe it is a 'feature' to help your night vision.
Have you got the manual it should allow you to configure it

I had a look in the manual under the 'dash' section but didn't see anything. I'll search again now that I know this feature exists. Thanks for your comment.
