Alarm sensor triggered

Extopia, is this since WW2...... anyway contacted the alarm company have booked a call out for the earliest they could - two weeks time (???!!!). In the meantime they went through how to disable particular sensor. Thanks to all for very construtive advice.
2 Weeks??? Thats a crazy ammount of time to wait for any service.
I'd ring around if I were you.

Thanks for that. Bad wiring could still set off the sensor if you covered it up. So that's no solution. In fact, it's a sticking plaster solution.

Alarm = see alarm company: can't give better advice than that. DIY alarm solutions are no good unless you live out in the country out of earshot of anyone else (in which case you probably don't have an alarm anyway).

I would suggest inhibiting that particular zone until the alarm company come out to investigate it.

That way, that particular sensor is out of the loop and no more false alarms.
Of course, you also have no protection on that zone while you do this but it is probably the lesser of 2 evils for the couple of weeks.

I had a similiar experience with the sensor on the rear door - it was faulty wiring; easily fixed by the technician at not a huge cost. Also, he changed my alarm so that it could only go off for no longer than 15 minutes, inside and out. Seemingly this is a legal requirement now.

If its a wiring problem , Inhibiting may not solve the problem

Its a shame there is not a button to the sensor that you could press to silence the alarm ,It would certainly be a way to go.
Its certinly not the way to go. Think about it! A button that silences you alarm??? Kind of defeats the purpose really. Mind you the burglars would love it..:D

Thats correct. , 15 mionutes with a maximum of 3 rearms= 1 Hour.

My previous posts were red carded, because I defended myself from derision and made my point forcefully and well, But broke a rule in error which I apologise to everyone who was offended by it. Out of frustration I posted (see edit).

The deleted posts were an attempt to help the OP at the start of a Bank Holiday week end and contained good suggestions

Seem that I am on two cards from this thread, and this one could be my last because unlike the alarm ,some people do have a button to press when they do not like the sound ,when they could just post a message on the forum.
