Alarm sensor triggered

Hi all, having problem with alarm sensor in one room. Randomly triggering - once in middle of day, twice in middle of night. All other sensors okay. Has anyone had any experience of this please?
 
We had the same problem a couple of year ago and had to get 6 new shock sensors fitted. Have had no problems since.
 
We had same problem a while ago when we had mice. They always managed to set off the kitchen motion sensor. Nothing else or any other sensor. Very annoying and frifgtening at 3am in the morning.

The security technician for alarm company came out and he was able to dial down the sensitivity of sensor. No problem since and we have had repeat offenders visit us (unfortunately)
 
Yes, get it checked out right away. Think of the nuisance your alarm is causing the neighbours when it goes off when you are out.
 
Thanks for your responses. Extopia obviously my main concern (if there was no break in) is for the nuisance caused to my neighbours so no need to remind me! Something constructive would be more useful thanks.
 
Yes Extopia that was quite a rude statement for someone looking at genuine advice on this matter, the person is actaully trying to solve the issue no need for the snotty reply.
I had a similiar problem on one occasion, turns out the sensor in the kitchen was amiming slightly toward the rear patio door, the curtains being open by chance a cat walked past the door and put it off..
Very scary at the time i admit, put me off using it but since ive adjusted the sensor it has never happened again thankfully..
 
With all due respect, the only way to solve this problem properly is to have it checked out and remedied by a professional.

I certainly agree with that and one would expect them to solve this seemingly simple problem.
But he was asking for advice on anyone having similiar experiences so thats what he was given, we could all suggest what you have on any number of threads on this site and that would not really be helping people
or contructive.
Anyway i understand your frustrations they can be annoying of course
when they go off in neighbours cars/houses etc so we wont fall out about something this minor.
Bank Holiday lads, for those not working this weekend relax and forget this darn recession for the weekend.

There are one or more faulty sensors on the zone in question.
A routine service will cost between €60- €100 & you could ask them to advise you of any additional cost of replacing devices before carrying out the work.

Hi Tarad,

Another possibility could be a loose connection in the wiring. I think most alarms are also set to go off if someone cuts a wire, so if the circuit is broken by a faulty join/connection, it goes off as if it is has been cut. I have seen wires joined in the attic and in a box, as they should be, but moving them will set off the alarm.

Do you know what displayes on the keypad after you disarm the alarm?

Hi, spiders can get into the sensor, setting it off, if the sensor is not completely closed.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of "solution" that drives the neighbours crazy when the alarm goes off anyway.

You might think I'm being a little harsh here, but honestly, it's hard to think of anything more antisocial than seeking amateur solutions (or no solution) for faulty alarms.

Did you know that in parts of Germany (and possibly all of Germany), alarm sounders have been completely banned. I will welcome the day when this happens here.
 
Extopia, is this since WW2...... anyway contacted the alarm company have booked a call out for the earliest they could - two weeks time (???!!!). In the meantime they went through how to disable particular sensor. Thanks to all for very construtive advice.
 
Well done, that's definitely the way to go.

By the way, no, the German situation re sounders has nothing to do with WW2, more to do with quality of life.
