Airtricity equity fundraising

I read in the press lately that Airtricity raised a significant amount of equity. Is it possible for retail investors to participate in these or are they closed to the stockbroking firms?

The easiest route is to buy NTR shares as they're a 51% stake holder in Airtricity. NTR shares trade on a gray market and can be traded through an account with any of the big local stockbrokers. www.ntr.ie

I don't think this breaches the no stocks discussion as it's an issue of 'how' rather than 'is it a good investment'.

I would have a preference for investing directly, so does anybody know if/how one could invest in one of these placings?

The shares are not traded on the main exchange but are traded privately between the stockbrokers

Why have they chosen to do this rather than trading on the main exchange? Is it common practice?
