Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice for taking out a basic family policy for 2 adults late thirties and 3 kids 12, 10 and 3. Low enough cost at the moment no day to day expenses or gp visits required. Just want to have the option of private care if required.
Thanks in advance

Hi Focus53,

Welcome to AAM.
What specific ages are the 2 adults?
Did either of you ever have health insurance before and if so, for how many years did you have cover?

Regards, Snowyb

Hi thanks so much for your reply. Adults 37 and 38 we both had cover before but none at all in last 10 years

Hi Focus53,

There are 3 plans included in the offer, details as follows;

per year for all admissions per child. Day case excess 125 per procedure.

2. Laya Essential Connect Family; child price 273pa; all public, private and Beacon hospital covered, private excess capped at 300 x 1 per family
per year for all private hospital admissions and for all day case procedures per family per year.

3. Laya Flex 125 Explore; child price 374pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private excess 125 per admission and day case

Adult Options
To avail of the Laya child special offer above, at least one adult must be also insured on any plan with Laya. The following 2 Laya plans are
worth considering, plus a third option with VHI.

1. Laya Precision 600 Connect; price 711pa; all public and a selected list of 15 private hospitals covered, also some hi-tech hospital cover,
private hospital excess 600 per admission, day case excess 175 per procedure.

2. Laya Signify plan; price 938pa; all public and all private hospitals covered, private hospital excess capped at 250 x 2 max per year for all
private admissions, day case excess 125 per procedure. Laya Concierge service included on this plan, to answer all your questions.(link below
explaining how it works).

3. VHI One Plan 500; price 759pa; all public and private hospitals covered, private hospital excess capped at 500 x 2 max per year for all private
admissions, day case excess 150 per procedure.

Note; If you had health insurance from age 18+ at any stage in the past, it is upto you to prove you had cover ie by membership number or
old documentation etc. Regarding Lifetime Community Rating, for each year you are older than 34 years, there is a 2% loading per year.
If you can provide evidence of any previous health insurance cover in the past, you will be given credit for each year of cover. This could
potentially cancel out any loadings onto your annual premium.
