On reflection, I don't think that dot.ies are worth that much. .coms have a worldwide occupation so if you had a domain like dog.com it would be worth a lot. But dog.ie probably wouldn't be.

Careful now, you might upset/trigger people who are afraid of dogs.
The value depends how likely search engines or AI agents are to pick up on the domain in response to a query, for example if I have the domain tyres.ie and someone queries for "tyres". Nowadays site content is - to best of my knowledge - given far far more priority than the domain name (if the domain name is even relevant at all). This isn't 1998 anymore.
That said, tyres.ie certainly would have significant overall marketing value to a countrywide business selling tyres.
I work with a medium-sized business which uses a .net domain. When I checked the availability of the .com version of their name, it's on auction for minimum 40k USD. This domain name would have no relevance to anyone except that company (or potentially a competitor). IMO whoever owns that is an idiot for asking min 40k. For a few grand, the company would probably buy it.
