Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help. I am in the process of planning a move to the UK to start working for a company over there but I am a sole trader here in Ireland and I don't want to wind down the business. I will have a family member back home helping with keeping it going.

So my question is can I do both?

Anyone have any ideas at all?

Hi. I read your post yesterday and wondered what your real question is? There is no impediment as far as I know, except taxation and regulatory/governance issues. I do not know the ins and outs. Perhaps you should post a specific question. Good luck and fair play to you.

Well I suppose my question is, is it legally possible to do so and the further question then is do I have to inform the revenue or fill out forms or something?

There is nothing stopping you from running a sole trader business in Ireland while employed in the UK. You will have to make a tax return Form 11 in Ireland on your income.

If resident in the UK you may also need to make a tax return in the UK.

That's great thanks. And do I have to inform Revenue or anything or can I just start working in the UK? Income tax would be paid from my wages in the uk
