advice in choosing builder for elderly person

hi,

My father is eligible for a downstairs toilet/shower room. He is very elderly and I have no real experience with builders. Can any one recommend a builder who is decent and would be appropriate to the job?

What area does he live in? If he is getting a grant from the council chances are they will have a list from which he may have to choose. My parents had to use a specific fella to do a downstairs bathroom as they were getting a grant.
 
Hi Dexter - what part of the country are you in? People will be able to recommend if they know of tradespeople in your general area.

Also, when you say he is eligible, assume that he will receive a grant for the works to be carried out? You need to liase with the contact in city/county council in relation to this - they may have recommendations in relation to people to use. They'll have a process etc to be followed re signoff and payment for the works.
