My Dad was recently made redundant from the printing industry. The thing is that he is in his late fifties and won't be as employable as someone younger even though he has years of experience.
The printing industry is on the decline and there probably isn't going to be any openings there.

Question is - Can anyone make any suggestions as to what areas he could try, given that all his experience is in printing. He's thought of driving instructor, hackney driver etc, but any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Sally

driving

If he gets his PSV licence sorted he could also look into chauffeur driver - there are companies who work out of the airport as a lot of city break deals and first class passengers have this included - it could be less stressful as hackneying, money might not be as good, it depends whether his priority is to keep busy or make money!

..

Some car-hire companies/garages need available people at short notice to transport cars to various locations.

Howver, the work may not be regular and the pay would be unlikely to be great but it might be a way of keeping actively engaged.

Precisely what sort of role(s) did he work in?
