Additional Tax Benefit

Hi All

I am living with a man who has a daughter of 18 in college. He pays his ex maintenance and the mortgate. What additional allowance can he claim for his daughter who stays with us at weekends.

He is entitled to The Single Parents Allowence of about €1500 per year even if she only spends one night per year with him but I am not sure of the cut off age. There has been a tread about this before.

Not entitled to this "single parents allowance" if he is living with someone (you) as man and wife.

At any rate, what age does this single parents allowance stop being paid? Is it 18?
