add words to 'Word' dictionary

Can anyone help? When doing a spell check on Word document when the checker comes across a word it does not recognise e.g. a place name or Irish word it refuses to add the word to the dictionary for me. The 'add to dictionary' tab in not highlighted and I cannot get this activated.

Can't think why this might be - has always worked for me.

Have any of your Word settings been changed recently?

Do you have a dictionary set up? Go into the dictionary settings, and make sure a dictionary is selected, or add a new dictionary.
