Add Word to Dictionary in MS Word

I am unable to add a word to the dictionary in Microsoft Word. Any suggestions about how I can install this feature? I have tried removing Word and reinstalling it and looked at features you can add with no joy. Any assistance much appreciated.

If you click Tools>Options and go to the Spelling and Grammar tab. Then click on the Custom Dictionaries button. Scroll down to the bottom and make sure the check-box by Custom.dic is ticked.

Hold down the AltGr key while typing the letter
