Hi,

Im looking to go back and study part time to get an ACCA degree.

Just wondering has anybody any experience of this? Am I better off doing CAT first (Im not 100% but I know this exemptas you from some modules of the ACCA) or just dive straight in to the ACCA?

Thanks,
Roisin

Have you got a previous recognized degree or diploma if so see which offer you the best exemptions. At the end of the day they are all the same qualification. If you feel that you want to be accountant and have some experience in the area then you better of going straight for the ACCA finals course not the cat scheme as you have less exam to do.

Are accountancy firms still hiring trainee accountants. I am an engineer (with engineering degree) who wants to take redundancy (before I'm forced to) and start a new career. I am willing to work for 12K(or whatever going rate is) per year while training. Are companies hiring or should I go about things differently, ie work somewhere and do this in the evenings? Should I do ACCA exams or would you advise some other accountancy qualification?
