My house is being built at the moment - bought off the plans. There were 'PC sums' available for the kitchen, fireplace & for tiling of 2000/600/800.

I was going to go with the standard in all of the above cases. However, the builder says that they cant be bothered with doing the tiling cos of customers fiddling around with picking tiles, etc.

Two questions..

1. Do I have to go along with this as in the case of the tiling, I think i would be getting better value if they did it.

2. How does the 'pc sum' thing work? Do they write me a cheque or pay the tradesman i bring in to do the job?

Hi,

When I bought my house I decided to get the tiling and wardrobes done myself. The PC sums for those items were deducted off the price of the house. I think it depends on the builder how they approach this.
