I received the following by SMS today:

A little gift for you! 5G is now included in your GoMo plan at no extra cost. We're rolling it out now and you’ll have 5G no later than the 15th of October. More speed. Same great value. Enjoy! The GoMo Team

I’ve been with GoMo since they launched in October 2019 and am still on the €9.99 per month deal. Delighted to see this being offered, presumably as a result of competition and the imminent switch off of eir’s 3G network.

I know that eir/GoMo’s 5G service is seriously compromised as it’s more of a 4-and-a-bit-G offering being 5G last mile (transmitter to phone) with 4G backhaul but hopefully it will allow continued widespread coverage in the absence of the 3G network.

Commiserations to those who upgraded to GoMo’s €12.99 and €14.99 offerings to avail of 5G

It might just be as advertised "a little gift"
AI Overview

GoMo 5G speeds typically range from 20 to 60 Mbps in most areas (and can occasionally exceed 100 Mbps in major cities like Dublin), whereas GoMo 4G speeds generally average around 10 to 50 Mbps depending on local congestion and signal strength.
