I heard Tom Dunne using the Saving Private Ryan analogy this morning. 2009 was getting on to the beach alive. 2010 is getting off it.
 
It is wierd that the government put up no battle to save the Halifax jobs.


Letting 750 jobs disappear without a battle is senseless.

I wonder will the Irish banks start shedding staff/branches once their loans have been moved to NAMA? ;)

The Irish banks have started doing this already, all of them have cleared out most if not all of their temporary/fixed contract staff. Interestingly though non Nama banks have moved faster, UB have let go 20% of their perm staff, NIB are closing half their branches
