Ebay is possibly the best idea but I'd prefer not to go the ebay route.

I'm going to grow a 'porn star' moustache and sideys for a start. :)

Tacky jewellery, a large collared garish shirt and flared jeans should be easy enough to find but I'm thinking platform boots (and a wig will certainly be essential in my case :()

Is it possible to get these things cheaply? I'm in the NE but Dublin City centre is a possibility too.

Thanks

I know someone who wore their school uniform to a 70s night, as this was what they
wore for most of the decade. It got a great laugh on the night, but maybe not the look you are trying to portray !

Got it in one ney001!

Thanks all for replies - I guess the only real problem is the platforms - although I could compromise with cowboy boots or something I guess - and the wig.

Maybe it will have to be the likes of ebay for a wig after all.

Hee, hee. One of our best friends has that 70s curly hair and porn star moustache and ANYTHING he wears makes him look like an extra from the YMCA village people video. So def start there!

If you're heading to dublin there's a fancy dress shop beside stephen's green centre which sells loads of different wigs

As an aside to this thread, does anyone know of a place doing Brian Cowen masks?

Charity shops often have the retro stuff... I'd be sure that someone, somewhere has offloaded... ooops I mean donated some to the shop when doing a clearout!...

Also try [broken link removed]... Put a note of what you want in the 'Wanted Items' section, and I'm sure someone will have what you need and be happy to rehome it... After all, who wouldn't want to offload 70's gear!...

Darth...

Thanks - am actually sorted now along with many of the party goers.

Went here in Newry - great place and reasonably priced.

...or do you mean specifically 70s?

Hi guys!

Just wondering are there any more suggestions for fancy dress for a couple that would be easy to pull together without having to go to a costume shop!? Creative part of my brain not working today!

Hi, we went as Bonnie & Clyde, easy to pull together, he has the suit and the trilby hat, I had the pencil skirt and beret so just got some guns and hey ho, everybody said it looked really well, plus, you kind of look cool/sexy, always a bonus!! better than a gorrilla suit

What about Elvis and a sixty`s hippy retro girl for the couple fancydress?
