looking at purchasing a 2017-2020 diesel car in the next couple of months and preferably with a 5 or 6 cylinder diesel engine. I am finding it difficult to find a website that can perform a search for potential motors in this manner with said engines. Would anyone have suggestions for such a site?

Is it not better to decide which models of car you want and which variant and search that way? For example the 3 litre bmw diesels are 6cyl.

Look at youtube John Cadogan is a mechanical engineer / journalist that does some good explanations on this kind of stuff

I remember watching a video to say the harmonics in engines mean that the 6 cylinder is best balanced so smoother.

Getting to be some of the last chance to buy a decent diesel as gov policy will drive them out soon.

I hope you have someone else paying for the fuel

I know most VAG and BMW and Merc engines are 6 cylinders
Only 5 I remember was in VW a good few years ago.

Safe to say any 3L is a six. easy enough to find in specs too

First line in the list
Also number of valves 24 (multiple of 6)

I'd say find the car you like can afford and look at specs.

Inline 6s are very smooth, not sure about V6s, which is what most manufacturers supply these days.

Volvo & AUDI had 5-cylinder engines with great reputations some years ago, maybe the same engines.

EDIT: Here's a search from one of my favourite websites where I go to drool over automotive exotica. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/search?cylinders=006&fuel-type=DSL&postcode=EC2P 2BP

In case the search results aren't available to you the search criteria are "used, 6-cylinder, diesel"
