Hi,

where can i find a shop that does 2nd hand books for 5th years in Cork. We also had a book rental scheme in my daughters school but thats stopped this year. Prices are sky high for new books.

I didnt think of the web... good idea :) will bring list to work with me tomorrow. I cant believe how expensive they can be. Had a quick look at lunch in Easons. I`d nearly want a second mortgage for that lot!!!
is the 2nd hand shop still open on georges quay near chorus?

Shootingstar - I typed 'secondhand school books' into google and there were loads of hits for online school books - see the link:

how can you ensure the 2nd hand books you purchase via web are in good condition? What come back would you have if you got a book half torn for example?

Some schools take phone numbers from 6th years if they would like to get rid of their books, either by selling or free. It might be worthwhile enquiring in the school. If there is a Parents Assn you could contact them as they may have some system in place.

Your daughter may know a student who has just completed L Cert and lives nearby.

If you approach your school secretary she may have time to make a few phone calls on your behalf to parents.
