Hi
I have been offered an Iphone for sale, it belongs to my neighbours son and I have seen receipts, looked up warrantly so all that is ok
My question is it was an xmas gift and has an 18 month contract, he is keeping his sim and says it is going into his new phone, if for any reason he stops paying the bill will the Iphone be disconnected,I was just going to use it as ready to go with an O2 Sim will this work as it was bought 4 months ago as bill or is the onus on him to pay the bill for 18 months and no attachment to the handset I have been trying to get answer all day from O2 shops and online but cant get definite on it
Tks

Unless you can get the iPhone unlocked*, a RTG SIM won't work AFAIK.

*see existing threads about unlocking iPhones

I asked on the O2 forums and they said any O2 sim will work in it. its locked to O2 not RTG or Bill Pay. But why don't you just stick your sim in it and see?

Be aware that unless your on a iPhone plan RTG or Bill Pay the mobile data rates are eye wateringly expensive.

I find the O2 guys on the O2 forum are far better informed than those in customer support.

Phones are network locked, not SIM locked, therefore any O2 SIM will work with it - even RTG. However, he has a contract with O2 and will have to pay that until the end of the 18 months irrespective of whether he uses the phone.

They might let you move to another contract as long as its longer than the current contract.
