Hi Sam h,
There are several alternative options to consider without compromising on hospital cover, with added extras and at cheaper prices.
The Aviva plan Level 2 Hospital has no private hospital excess, so the first 2 suggestions have no private hospital excess.
A hospital excess doesn't apply to children as there are no private children's hospitals in Ireland.
Adult option;
LAYA HEALTHCARE; Company Care Plus plan; - identical hospital cover + extras + excellent day to day outpatient cover(75% refund).
Price per adult; 1201(1237)pa price in brackets includes 3% charge if paying by instalments.
Child option;
LAYA HEALTHCARE; Family Care plan; child(1+2)price 212(218)pa; child(3+4)price 179(185)pa - same hospital cover + good day to day outpatient cover(50% refund). Note; prices in brackets includes 3% charge if paying by instalments.
These reduced child prices will apply from 1/8/2013.

2 kids x 218 = 436
1 kid x 185 = 185

There are plenty of savings to be made without compromising on hospital cover.
You can mix and match from the above suggestions, with the same company.
Children can be on different plans to adults.
In fact you could choose different individual plans for each person if required - example outpatient cover for some, not for others if you want.
Hope I haven't provided tooo much info.
