It's once again that time of year, and again renewal prices have jumped.

We took the advice given here last year, thanks again, and am back looking for more advice this year.

My parents are on laya 'Company Care Plus', which is up for renewal this month.

We are on 'Simply Health Excess' plan with Laya Healthcare, for 2 adults, 2 kids, renewal date next month.

I'm looking for advice on similar but cheaper plans, if any. Or plans which have the same or better hospital cover, but don't have to have the reimbursement for gp fees etc.

Thanks again.

Hi Mar123,

Regarding your parents cover, here are a few alternative suggestions to consider;
These 3 plans have similar hospital cover as before, no hospital excess, but limited or no outpatient cover.

Laya Healthcare;
1. Healthcare Plus No Excess; adult price; 1003(1033)pa. Price in brackets include a 3% charge if paying by instalments

VHI Healthcare;
2. PMI 30 12; Adult price; 1104pa.

Glohealth;
3. Best Plan; Adult price; 1110pa.

Company Care Plus is the best value plan, with outpatients and no hospital excess.

Regarding your own family cover, here are a number of options to consider;

Adult Options; 1. Similar hospital cover, no or limited outpatients.

Aviva; Level 2 Health Excess; price per adult; 904pa.
Glohealth; Better Plan; price per adult; 915pa.
VHI Healthcare; One Plan; price per adult; 943pa.

Adult Options; 2. Similar hospital cover, including outpatient cover.

Aviva;
Health Plan 05; price per adult; 946pa.
Health Plan 06; price per adult; 980pa.
VHI Healthcare;
PMI 10 11; price per adult; 945pa.
PMI 14 11; price per adult; 1050pa.
LAYA;
Total Health Choice; price per adult; 1017pa(1047pa).

Note; All these adult options could also be suitable for your parents if they don't mind plans with hospital excess.
A hospital excess only applies to a private or hi-tech hospital, it doesn't apply to any public hospital.

Childrens Options; 1. similar hospital, no outpatients.

Aviva; Level 2 Family Health; price per child; 228pa.
Glohealth; Better Plan; price per child; 230pa.
Laya; Essential Plus with Excess; price per child; 226pa(232pa) including 3% charge.
VHI; One Plan Choice; price per child; 244pa.

Childrens Options; 2. similar hospital, including outpatient cover.

Aviva; Health Plan 05; price per child; 326pa.
Laya; Total Health Choice; price per child; 318pa(327pa) including 3% charge.
VHI; PMI 10 11; price per child; 341pa

There are several cheaper alternatives to consider, hope you find suitable options.
