Can retire from public sector next year. I am told that the 2009 rates are available up to the end of 2011. Dont seem to be able to find any definite info on this. Does anyone know if this is factual.

It was agreed as part of the Croke Park Agreement. Here's the paragraph from a copy of the agreement on the Impact website - the last sentence is the one which refers to your situation.

Public Service pensions
17. As announced in Budget 2010, the Government has decided to introduce a new single pension scheme for all new entrants to the public service. Consultations on the new scheme have started between the parties and it is agreed that these consultations will conclude in time for legislation to be enacted to allow for the introduction of the scheme on 1 January 2011.
Discussions will take place on the method of determining pension increases for existing public service pensioners and current public servants in the context of the review of pay policy in Spring 2011. There will be an extension of the period by a year within which the January 2010 pay reductions will be disregarded for the purposes of calculating public service pension entitlement.

Under Section 3(1)(b)(ii) of the financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (No.2) Act 2009. The Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan confirmed on June 18th 2010 that any Public sector staff member retiring on or before 31st December 2011, will have their pension entitlements calculated by reference to salary prior to January 2010 pay reductions.
