2 night self catering in the west

We are looking to go on sat/sun 3/4th first weekend in sept on a short self catering break. 3 adults and a 1 year old. Something with a sea view and walking distance to some amenities, nice walks etc.
I contacted a german lady with places in Valentia Island in Kerry who wanted (wait for it!) 300 Euro plus ESB bills for 2 nights in Kerry. Either I didn't know there was no recession in Kerry or no 5* accommodation on valentia. This is out of season I am told.

Anyone have any reccommendations for something thats not on LaLa land.

You gotta go to Gannon's B&B in Clifden. Superb 5 star accommodation in Centre of Clifden. Walk everywhere and short drive to beach, walks, mountains Forest Park etc http://www.gannonsbandb.com/
I have no alliances with them. I stayed there before and can't wait to go back

Not a fan of salt hill. looking for something a little more scenic with walks and a local bar

Westport ? (Harbour mill apts are very nice)
Or Connemara of course for the scenery..
