Can anyone remember the name of the famous (infamous?!) auctioneer from the 1960's who described the properties he sold very bluntly ("ugly little box" type comments? Any there any website about him or his company?

Thanks,

Sarah

Green Valley Properties (based in west of Ireland) still do this. Take a look at some of the comments on the cheaper properties.
ROWLS ALLEN, MEELIN, CO. CORK
Pile of stones, vaguely house shaped, covered in briars with a tree growing out of the middle, on circa 0.2 acre in very quiet, hilly location on Cork / Kerry / Limerick border. Neglected for decades. Several mature trees on the land.
As basic as you can get. Situated in beautiful hilly countryside, peace and quiet is guaranteed here, as are brambles, nettles and hard work.
The remains of the once cottage are nearly hidden in undergrowth, and the boundaries of this field have grown in to nearly meet in the middle. There are several mature trees on the site, around the boundaries, and indeed, in the ?house? itself.
This place is not at the cheap end of the list by mistake, but it could be a beautiful, peaceful retreat.
Bring your wellies when viewing.
