hi, i'm getting 10k in jan 2010, and heading abroad.

i won't be working in ireland for the year.

will any of this be taxed, prisi, levys?

cheers.

The short answer is yes, but its not clear from your post how much will be taken from it when you get it.

Will this 10K be income from a company who will withhold income tax ?

If so, you will pay income tax, PRSI and levies on it. Depending on how much income tax was withheld, if it is your only income of the year, you may be able to claim some of the income tax back at the end of the year. THe PRSI you cannot claim back and I think the same is true of the levies but I'm not sure.

You can claim back the levies at the end of the tax year if your total income for the year is below the Levy threshold. which is ~ €18,500
