A friend of mine bought an apartment 1.5 yrs ago. Yesterday while talking to his solicitor about another matter, the solicitor said there had been an error calculating the balancing statement of the apartment purchase and my friend had received 4000 euros too much.
My friend has requested a copy of the balancing statement to ascertain whether the solicitor is correct or not, but is also wondering what to do if he is. 1.5 yrs later, 4000 euros seems like a lot of money to have to pay back, he doesn't have spare cash at the moment.
What would anyone else do in this situation. would you pay the solicitor back or take the attitude that it was his mistake, so not your problem?
