Appealing a domestic rates bill in Northern Ireland

*MODS: please move thread to a more apt forum, if applicable* Has anyone successfully appealed a capital valuation and/or poundage used to calculate a residential property rates bill? I have already requested a review of the valuation based upon similar properties in the area and the purchase...

    Parking at Belfast (BFS) airport

I haven’t parked here before and it seems expensive (£62/ 7 days). Any discount codes tried are not reducing the price. Is there a cheaper alternative? Has anyone used Hyde car park? Mixed reviews online. Apologies if this has already been asked many times.

I agree with your point but arguably they are higher up the evolutionary chain if living off the endeavours of others.

Gold bid prices on Government Luxury Goods Auction

Is anyone following Wilson's online auction of CAB's proceeds of crime? There are five one ounce gold bars and the current bid on each is in excess of €1500 to €1575. The auction opened at 1pm today and ends on Monday. There is a buyers premium of 20% plus VAT (on the buyers premium) so the...

    Voluntary PRSI contributions dilemma

Yes, my calculation includes paid contributions and credits. I am now paying Class A so potentially being able to sign on for credits is an important consideration.

    Voluntary PRSI contributions dilemma

I have over 10 years to go to age 66 so the 5 year window may expire. Yes, I realise the potential 2078/2080 contributions but I'm thinking if anything happens in the meantime that I stop contributing. But in that case I could maintain my record by making voluntary contributions up to...

    Voluntary PRSI contributions dilemma

For the year 2022 I only have 26 weeks' Class A contributions. I am required to submit a Form 11 (tax return) but have zero additional liability for PRSI due to self-employed income being below €5000. It will cost €500 for the 26 weeks' contributions to make up the 2022 shortfall (26 weeks)...

Buying a house to rent (first time)

Yes, Stamp Duty would be 5%. The plan would be for the rental receipts to cover the mortgage repayments. Is the reason for the £50k income requirement to cover the mortgage repayments in the event of no rental income?

Buying a house to rent (first time)

The property is in Northern Ireland and would be modernised then rented out. Buyer is domiciled in ROI. The buyer would not meet lending criteria based upon their income but owns two other personal properties outright (one in NI, other in ROI). Is it possible to apply for a mortgage based...

Exchanging large amount of EUR to GBP

There are few to none original questions on AAM. As a long term member, you should also know the search facility leaves much to be desired.

Exchanging large amount of EUR to GBP

Where's the best rate for exchanging EUR to GBP (approx £85000) and holding it securely? I would use Revolut but the account is UK based and therefore not covered by the FSCS (deposit guarantee)

MS Word will not download on Mac

There is no referencing tool for the online version of MS Word (being used by a student through their college Moodle portal) Apparently the desktop version has the referencing tool and can be downloaded. Numerous attempts to download MS Office to a MacBook Pro (latest version-MacOS Monterey...

UK and Irish driving licences held simultaneously

Could you elaborate on this @lomber? Thanks in advance

UK and Irish driving licences held simultaneously

Does this mean that someone who is tax resident in ROI, but owns and keeps a vehicle in NI, cannot drive the NI registered vehicle in ROI? If so, I'm not aware of this and think it would be difficult to enforce.
