There is a leak at the top of the driver window on my Mk4 Golf. There doesn't appear to be a tear in the rubber but it does pull away slightly in one area. Does anyone know the best way to seal this? Silicone?

Is cash the usual way to pay for a privately-sold used car? I am buying a car for 10K and have been asked for cash and not a bank draft. Is this because bank drafts can be easily forged? Just wanted to make sure before I withdraw the cash as I will be very uncomfortable carrying it around.
