Tax on PUP payments - self-employed

That's very disappointing. I've emailed Revenue and hopefully they'll respond soon.

Tax until end of 2021 - circa 3 months working this year.

Yes, your 2021 tax credits will massively offset your tax liability. Bear in mind though that Jobseekers Benefit is taxable and so is PUP. Just keep it in mind when you're calculating your tax liability. :-)

Tax on PUP payments - self-employed

I read that Revenue will recoup tax due for PUP payments by reducing tax credits until 2025. However, I am self-employed and I'm wondering if that's an option for me? I'm currently doing my tax return through ROS but it seems I'm getting hit with the full tax liability for PUP payments I got in...

Am I entitled to carer's allowance for my son?

And please, no judgements. I don't drink. I don't smoke. No luxuries, no frivolities. Just a **** situation whereby my husband died suddenly, my business folded and now my son is ill.

Am I entitled to carer's allowance for my son?

My son has recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He's 17 and is seeing a counsellor, a psychiatrist and is also in regular contact with the GP. His depression is serious and debilitating. I am 44 and widowed with 3 kids - 19, 17 and 9. I am really struggling financially as I am...

Totally ignoring debts - what's the worst that can happen

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate them. I had a long reply written but it was removed. I've recently been widowed so things are drastic with three kids to raise on my own on a widow's pension (until I can find more work). I have a mortgage too. Thanks again. There is no way I can continue...

Totally ignoring debts - what's the worst that can happen

If someone had debts to the tune of 22,000 euro in total made up of: MBNA credit card (2,000) MBNA Personal Loan (8,000) TSB Personal Loan (6,000) Halifax Credit Card (5,000) Debenhams Store Card (1,000) And those debts are going on for a long time - regular payments were stopped in 2010...

How do I figure out the IBAN code?

I need my IBAN code for my a/c. But I have no statement yet from the bank as the account is just a couple of weeks old so I have to figure out the IBAN myself. According to AIB's website: "An IBAN contains additional characters in front of a normal recipient domestic account number. These...

Judgement against my husband. He has passed away.

4 weeks after his cancer diagnosis my husband passed away last week. We are distraught. One of the many things weighing down on me is our financial situation. Our mortgage protection insurance lapsed a year or more ago. Also a few months ago dh's credit union successfully filed a judgement...

Will Aer Lingus pay flight price difference?

My friends were due to fly from Tenerife to Cork last Thursday 15th - they've made their way to Paris by now and can get a flight this Friday 23rd direct from Paris to Cork. It's a lot more expensive than the original flight. Will Aer Lingus pay the difference? They cannot change the booking...

    mortgage in arrears

Gina, I honestly think the only sensible option is to put the house up for sale. Madangan already mentioned this as an option and I do think it's the best one. Children are very adaptable. They will adjust to a new home no problem. You can make it a positive thing. A home isn't the four...

    Negative Equity

What's the maximum you can afford per month to pay off this mortgage? It's vital that the capital (plus the interest obviously) starts coming down on this as fast as possible. How much would you get if you were to rent it out? Bearing in mind that rent has come down so it would have to be a...

    Advice regarding builders suggestion

You're not stupid. You're just trying to do the best thing for your future. Stupid would be rushing in without thinking about it. Buying a house becomes a very emotional thing and sometimes our emotions blind us to the practicalities. Forget for a minute how much you love the place, forget...

    what offer to make

I agree with kushrova. 240k is still too much. I'd start at 190k and go up from there. There are so many houses out there - it's a buyers market. A quick browse on daft.ie will show you what's on offer. There's a 3-bed detached bungalow there for €225k - more than likely they'd take less than...
