AIB Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Hi @Megafan, I think you make a valid point about people who drew down post October 2008 but nevertheless everyone in this cohort had a contractual right to be offered a tracker rate when coming off a fixed rate. It was a big mistake on the part of AIB to not set a new prevailing tracker...

AIB Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Although this may feel like, for a lot of people; having a win on winning streak, I think it is important to remember that this is your money that AIB are giving back to you.....AIB are not giving you anything extra.... only part of what you overpaid as they did not offer you the tracker rate...

AIB increases its provision for trackers by another €150 to €175m

Maybe AIB are seeing sense and are going to put the 5900 cohort onto tracker rate and include them in the redress and compensation scheme to try and put this tracker saga behind them once and for all........that would be the smart thing to do!!!

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

A great win and a great achievement after a long struggle....I am still convinced the prevailing rate did exist and AIB maintained it publicly by way of their press releases but the ombudsman did not go so far as to say what the prevailing rate was....what he did do was provide a solution that...

AIB Why would AIB not just give the 6000 cohort the last available tracker margin of 1.5%?

I agree....it will be interesting to see the decision of the Ombudsman. Can it really cost AIB much more to do the right thing?

AIB Why would AIB not just give the 6000 cohort the last available tracker margin of 1.5%?

Is it not in the best interest of AIB and its shareholders (70% owned by the state) to try and put this tracker scandal behind them and just concede that they did not withdraw the tracker for the 6000 cohort? This settlement will be very much welcomed by many but will it not just enrage further...

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

Very thankful to Karen and Brendan for taking this to the Ombudsman and getting a great result.......can't believe the tracker rate was not reinstated for everyone......not sure this is going away anytime soon for AIB unless they reinstate the prevailing tracker rate that still...

Hi all, Thanks to all who have uploaded a copy of their rate options letter. I am still looking to find a rate options letter from before 2007 if possible. A letter that offered a tracker rate would be preferable but any rate options letter will do. If anyone has one they can share i would...

    Mortgage Interest Rate Options Letters

I am looking to get a copy of some mortgage option letters (redacted) that would have been sent out to customers after a fixed rate on their mortgage expired..... i am looking for AIB letters from 2002 to 2007 or any other bank option letters to use as a comparison with the letter I received...

AIB AIB options letter before October 2008

Hi @Robbie R, I have been through the appeals process with the AIB Tracker Panel and i did include all the issues with this letter in my appeal in addition to the prevailing rate argument. I received the usual rejection from the panel with some reference to the Panel agreeing that certain...

AIB We have won the Prevailing Rate issue

My understanding is that the argument brought to the Ombudsman was that the tracker prevailing rate did exist and it was the last available tracker margin offered by AIB in addition to the ECB rate at the time. The last available AIB tracker margin offered for >80 LTV was 1.5%.....i am not sure...

AIB We have won the Prevailing Rate issue

That’s is such amazing news, such a relief....thank you Brendan.....thanks to the ombudsman for being independent and for ensuring consumer protection is real and available.....and for showing that the tracker appeals panel are a joke

AIB Has anyone received a 3rd response from AIB?

Just a quick update on my own appeal. I did not receive a third response from AIB. My appeal is now with the panel. I assume i have a long wait ahead of me unless I receive the standard rejection letter.
