    College Living Expenses

Our eldest is due to start Third Level in Cork. We will cover rent & fees & they will cover their social life from their own savings & part-time job. Can I ask what allowance parents give to cover food & travel? I expect they will come home at least 2 weekends a month & we intend to send them...

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

@john180 the process for us took 7 months from PTSB initial letter to a redress offer (which we have appealed so in a way it's still ongoing). Hope this helps.

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

It's a start at least @Stitcher Our redress letter did not include a statement detailing how the 1 year overpayment was calculated & what the historic applicable rate was. After receiving financial advice I rang PTSB to request this, I was initially told it would take 14 days to process my...

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

Just an update. We received the redress letter today. As anticipated PTSB calculated the overpayment for one year only, up until we switched mortgage providers. I am pursuing this via the PTSB appeals form in the first instance. Our intention is to request a recalculation of overpayment for the...

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

@Stitcher We are not with PTSB either (we only had our mortgage with them for 2 years). We received another letter last week advising that the review is ongoing to bear with them etc.. I had made the initial contact with PTSB when this case came to light. Best of luck with it all!

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

We technically traded down to a smaller suburban house but managed to get a good rate of 2.75% with Haven due to LTV. This was mainly down to the fact we used a redundancy pay out to reduce our mortgage twice in the 10 years with EBS to remove some of the pressure (again if we were on a tracker...

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

Thank you Brendan. I appreciate the clear instructions on how to proceed if needs be. We switched to EBS and stayed with that lender until we moved house 2 years ago. We have just recently entered into a fixed rate green mortgage of 2% so to reinstate a tracker is not the end goal but...

PTSB PTSB loses Ombudsman case - 200 other tracker customers to be compensated

Brendan if you meet both criteria but moved from PTSB to a different mortgage provider 1 year later (variable rates increased from 3.3% to 4.05%) does the overcharge apply to the year you were still with PTSB as per the ombudsman ruling or does it refer to the subsequent years also with a new...

    Resorts in POrtugal to recommend

I would highly recommend Tavira, 30 mins from Faro airport, traditional & unspoilt with a good choice of restaurants & a good mix of nationalities. You need to use a small ferry to access the beach. This added to the charm for us but if you like to access a beach several times daily it might not...

    Retention Planning for velux windows

Thank you @kceire for taking the time to reply. So 12 weeks in total for retention planning given the decision is in 8 weeks & then the 4 week appeal period. Unfortunately we have run out of time to apply for retention. We have already engaged an engineer and are considering the below...

    Retention Planning for velux windows

Can anyone advise how long retention planning applications usually take to complete. It has come to light that our house, built in 1986 is different to the original plans. Plans were for two bedrooms upstairs, there are 3, therefore there is a velux to the rear in the third bedroom not in the...

Is a Certificate of Compliance still valid?

Hi We are in the later stages of selling our house. The engineer who conducted the survey on behalf of the buyers has noted discrepancies between the house and the original plans. The main points being - Planning was for two bedrooms upstairs there are 3 - As a result of 3rd bedroom there is...

    Experience with the Land Registry?

@mf the title deeds for the property are 100% in our name. We used a mortgage to purchase and could not have done so without this document. I have no idea how it was not picked up over 3 sales that the folio does not match same. Both solicitors acting on our behalf and the farmers are dealing...

    Experience with the Land Registry?

@RedOnion our site has its own folio registered to the farmer at the land registry. We have title of deeds in our name.

    Experience with the Land Registry?

@cremeegg the folio is part of the farm which he inherited when his parents died, this was way before we purchased. All the folios of the farm is in his name on the land registry including our site. This has only been spotted because the maps are now digitised so you may he correct and its not...

    Experience with the Land Registry?

@Inquisitor the deed of rectification has been drawn up for 3 weeks but so far the farmer has not taken any action. And given my attempts to contact him are being ignored then im presuming he is not going to take action. Yes it should have been picked up when we purchased or back when the...

    Experience with the Land Registry?

@Inquisitor Thank you for your reply you seem very knowledgeable in this area and take on board your advice of personally pursuing the land registry aswell as my solicitor. What if the farmer does have an objection to the amendment of the folio. Can he have any legal claims on a site that has a...

    Experience with the Land Registry?

We are in the process of selling our house. The house is on a half acre site with neighbouring houses. We are the 3rd owners, it was built in 1986 so its 33 years old, we live here 11 years. The deeds of title are in our name. The land registry maps were digitised after we bought the house...

PTSB PTSB 1 year discounted tracker - Central Bank has deemed them not impacted.

Very disappointing..... I really dont understand how they have sided with PTSB on this. The title of the mortgage 'Discounted Tracker' without stating what the actual discount is immediately breaks the consumer code of conduct, that is before you even get to the individual mortgage clauses or...
