Ah I think that is unfair on Gary.I see that Gary Lineker could not resist a dig when he said " hopefully he"ll finds comfort in the hands of God".
He could have been more gracious I think.

Eamon Dunphy didn't rate him...He was without doubt one of the all time greats. A true legend.
A lot of his own, Lineker, followers on Twitter did"nt seem to think that it was the right tine for that remark though.
There has to be a time to move on from events like that hand ball , I think.
He also played on pitched that were like ploughed fields while being horrendously fouled in just about every game in ways that would see red cards and suspensions nowadays.Maradona was brutally fouled by English players in that game prior to hand of God including an elbow in the face by Terry Fenwick. So the cheating was on both sides and cancelled each country's moral high-ground out. Lineker was admiring of Maradona as a professional and begrudgingly accepted the first goal as clever gamesmanship and the second as peerless genius.
In all the predictably cloying commentary on is death not a mention of his penchant for prodigious amounts of cocaine..No idea why Irish media does this.
