Working outside of Europe - tax situation?

Hi Guys,

I am considering moving abroad (outside of Europe) to work for a while. My intention would be to keep enough money each week to live while abroad and transfer the rest to an Irish savings account.

Can someone explain to me what I need to know with regards to paying taxes while working outside of Europe, in order to make taking the job worthwhile.

Thank you

Where are you going?
When are you going?
How long do you intend to stay?

Need to know above before giving an answer.

Hi Domo,

Well I have a couple of offers, one is Ghana the other Nigeria. I have no idea how long I would be willing to stay at the moment. It would depend on my living conditions, security, social life and how I take to Africa.

I guess I would be willing to stay up to year at first if it was financially rewarding for me to work there.

If I go to either country, will I have to pay local taxes then Irish taxes on the income I earned there when I return home?

I'm trying to go over everything before I commit to anything. There would be no point taking a job and having to pay double taxes.

It's not a European company that I will be working for over there.
