Surprised theres no thread on this yet, but at this late stage I'm just gonna say I hope the GAA has the self-belief to see that temporarily lifting this ban will be seen as a sign of generosity to its rival codes, while also undermining those same codes when they have to use Croker, thus improving the GAA's overall standing. And it might earn them a few quid aswell.
Whatever your view point I'd say most people would have to agree that if a straight vote of the rank and file members of the GAA was taken, the motion would pass with the 2 3rds majority. However, the fact that a county board can mandate its delegates to vote one way, but they can vote another way if it feels like it is astonishing. How can this be construed to be democratic when some narrow minded delegate can say 'feck you and your 99% Yes vote, Im voting No'???? At least lets hope that the vote is done properly this time and in a transparent manner that will clearly identify anyone who votes against their mandate.
